Introduction :
RG 5658 is an Emulsifiable paraffin wax. Using appropriate emulsifier RG 5658 can easily be converted to transparent / milky white emulsion containing 20 – 40 % solids or as required by the end user.
Typical Properties :
- Colour : Off white
- Drop melting point : 56-58
- Acid number : 18 - 20
- Density : 0.85

0.5 – 0.6 gm
2 gm
Procedure :
- Make NAOH solution in water ie 0.5 – 0.6 gm + water 2 gm
- Add NAOH solution to molten wax & adjust pH to 7.0.
- Add NP – 9.5 while stirring to maintain temperature of 1200C
- Stir well for 30 min
- Add pre heated water to this maintaining temperature around 950C
- Cool it to almost ambient temperature under stirring
Applications :
- In cellulosic fabric industry to give waxy feel, shining, water resistance & excellent softness.
- In improving the tear strength & flex abrasion resistance of fabrics.
- For yarn lubrication.
